Charity Dinner Night for SSAFA
Plumstead Magar Association has successfully organised a charity dinner night at Dowd's Pub,Plumstead on 12th june 2010. On the event Mr. Gerry Armstrong and Stephen Green were our special guests. Even though the participation were not as expected but nearly about 100 people turned into an event. We would like to heartly thank to all people whoever took part in an event and contributed towards the funds being raised for SSAFA. It was a memorable night for all of us and we are proud of what we did. Program was started by our Secretary Mr. Dalprasad Thapa Magar followed by president Chandra Bdr. Pulami magar and Mr. Gerry Armstrong. Our president handed a cheque of sum £1280.00 to Mr. Gerry Armstrong. Mr. Armstrong was very delighted and thanked to everyone who took the part in an event and encouraged us to move on and set a good example like what we did in the night. He has even promised to all ex-servicemen's wives that SSAFA will extend ESOL (English for Speakers of other languages) course in near future and help them as much as they can. He wished a good luck to our community. In the event all guests were entertained with Nepali dance and songs.
Visit with Anuradha Koirala
On 16th May 2010, Nepal Ex-Servicemen Association (NESA) in association with UKMA Plumstead organised a visit with chair person of Maiti Nepal Mrs. Anuradha Koirala. She's well renowed not only in Nepal but through out the world as she has been awarded with many prizes internationally for her golorious initiatives taken so far regrading social issues concerning children and women. She has contributed continously and relentlessly in the children's and women's issues, particularly in the prevention of trafficking within and from Nepal.
She shared her experiences and talked about the situation about children and women who have been the victim of human trafficking and many other related issues about it. It was a great honour to talk and share our words with her. We made a small contribution to her trust by handing Nepali Rupee 17,000.00. We wish her success in her further journey.
COMMITTEE MEETING
On 12th june 2009 In presence of President Chandra Bahadur Pulami Magar and all other committe members the meeting was conducted successfully. Main aim of the meeting was to discuss about the barbeque party which is going to be held on 25th july 2009.Our secretary Dal Prasad Thapa Magar announced that "We've agreed to charge £8.00 for adults if they buy ticket in advance else £10 at the gate on the same day.While Child aged between 6-12 will be charged £5.00 whether they buy ticket before or on the same day."Child below 6 will not be charged.All the members were given a responsible task to handle during the party.Besides the discussion about barbeque party we discussed about the other goals that we'll be interested in achieving it in future.
COMMITTEE MEETING
On 11th january 2009 a committee meeting was being held at Ambala Restaurant.We've agreed to celebrate this party at plumstead Radical club starting from 5pm-11.30pm. All committe members were informed to be there by 11am and a general meeting will be held at 12pm.And this time if possible all committee members were asked to wear BHANGRA and Nepali cap.So in general we had overall discussion about the coming party and the meeting was concluded.
COMMITTEE MEETING
Committee meeting was being held on 22nd November 2009 at Ambala Restaurant.The main aim of the meeting was to discuss about the forthcoming event i.e. (Magar day and Birthday program).President Mr. Chandra Bahadur Pulami including all committee members were present.we have agreed to celebrate both Magar day and our branch's birthday program together on 21st Feburary 2009.But the venue hasn't been confirmed yet.Once it'll be confirmed we'll update in the site asap. UKMA Plumstead branch would like to thank all the members those who were present.
'BHET GHAT' WITH DR.MAHABIR PUN
A brief 'Bhet-Ghat' with Dr. Mahabir Pun was organised by the MAUK, Plumstead Branch on Monday evening 03 Nov 2008 at Ambala restaurant, in Plumstead, London. Approximately 20 available members were assembled at around 1930 hrs and the guest arrived at 2000 hrs. The Secretary of the Branch, Mr. Dalprasad Thapa started with welcome speech and thanked to every members and the guest who attended the evening. President Mr. Chandrabahadur Pulami welcomed our special guest Dr.Mahabir Pun and put "KHATA" and expressed that it was a great honour to meet with Dr.Pun ,the Winner of The 2007 Ramon Magsaysay Award for Community Leadership . The President then read a brief biodata and priceless achievements of our special guest Dr. Mahabir Pun and thanked the Branch for organising and inviting him in such a special 'bhet-ghat' evening. Dr.Pun then briefly talked about his intention to be in UK and further future progression of his project. After that every members introduced each-other and exchanged words with Dr.Pun and finally a 'Bhet-Ghat' programme ended with drink and dinner at around 2245 hrs. It was a special evening where every members had an opportunity to know about him very closely. We wish him a very best of luck.
Meeting with Mr.Colin Bloom (Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Erith and Thamesmead )
On 28th August 2009 our branch had a brief meeting with Mr.Colin, where President Mr.Chandra Bahadur Pulami, Secretary Mr.Dal Prasad Thapa and other executive members were also present. Meeting was successful where we had an opportunity to share views and problems that Nepalese people were/are facing since their arrival in U.K. Mr.Colin was happy to deal with these situations and forward the requests to the Greenwich council. His advice to us was very helpful and knowledgeable. He has agreed to be a chief guest of our upcoming magar party on 25th September 2009.

Summer Barbeque 2009
We have recently celebrated summer barbeque party on 25th july 2009 at Southmere lake,Thamesmead,UK. More than 300 people took part in this barbeque party. Compare to last year this year our magar members expressed a good comments and wished us to be more successful in coming days.Everyone enjoyed the day in a fully entertaining environment. This year we had our own music systems and enough barbeque stands were being provided. Besides DJ's songs dohori,dance were the main attractions and for children games with the prize was provided.In this event even people from outside the southeast London took part. Central UKMA president Mr.Tharka Bahadur Rana was also invited along with his wife. Overall it was successfully ended. We would like to thank to all the members and non-members who were involved in this event. We hope same participation in coming days.
